Why Should Children Learn Chinese?
Teaching Chinese to your child can be one of the most rewarding investments you will ever make in your child's life.
Aside from the obvious geopolitical and economic benefits, a second language has incredible benefits to the way we think and the way our brains work. A non-Latin based language, such as Chinese is even more valuable since it's not based on concepts that westerners are immediately familiar with. This opens our minds up in a different way; beginning with this at an early age gives children an edge in critical thinking and analysis. In addition to critical thinking, a tonal language influences people's ability to discern tone and pitch in music. Even though one of the most daunting concepts of Chinese is tones, it's also one of the most rewarding. Finally, Chinese culture is one of the oldest cultures, steeped in rich traditions dating back hundreds of years. Knowledge of the language opens up a whole new world of stories, concepts and people in a way that no story or history book ever could. Learning Chinese can truly be a life-altering experience for all ages.
